Our Real Ale Selection

Ashford, Folkestone & Romney Marsh CAMRA Pub of the Year 2025

We’re proud of our selection of local real ales at The George, and are grateful to have received 2 entries into the annual Good Beer Guide in 2025 and 2026 and chosen as our local CAMRA ‘Pub of the Year’ in 2025.

We have 4 pumps, with Harvey’s Best Bitter and Long Man Long Blonde our two regular ales, and rotations on the 3rd and 4th.

Harvey's Brewery, Lewes

Sussex Best Bitter (4.0%)

Always a favourite at The George, it was the first beer delivered to the pub when we re-opened under community ownership in 2023.
A superbly balanced bitter with prominent hop character. Using a blend of four local hops, water filtered through the Sussex Downs over 30 years.

Long Man Brewery, Polegate

Long Blonde (3.8%)

Through our partnership of suppliers, we stumbled across Long Man, based near Polegate in East Sussex, and we’ve been fans ever since!

A light coloured golden ale with a distinctive hoppy aroma and crisp clean bitterness on the finish. Smooth light and refreshing.

In the Winter months, we often swap this for other seasonal local beers.

Guest rotations

3rd and 4th pumps

We operate a rotation of local beers on our 3rd pump including Tonbridge Brewery, Goacher's, Canterbury Ales, Gadd's, Romney Marsh and McCann’s. Our 4th pump is used for local cider including Kentish Pip and Biddenden over the summer, and of course Christmas ales in December.

We love to hear feedback from our customers so let us know the beers you like!
